Ssebuguzi eager to maintain winning streak
In Summary
COC Bitalo says the route has both rough and smooth.
After the Independence Rally last year, two-time National Rally Champion (NRC) Ronald Ssebuguzi made a vow to win his third title this season.
Ahead of this weekend’s MPU Coca Cola Challenge Rally, the Jomayi-sponsored driver has not forgotten his promise to the rally faithful. “In Mbarara, I was unlucky to drop out while in second place,” said Ssebuguzi.
“But my win during the Freedom City Rally (in March) has given me confidence. I will build on it although this time I will be with a new navigator. My regular Cedric Buzabo is ill but I am confident Bashir Mbogo is an able replacement,” the burly driver said. Rwenzori Team driver Arthur Blick Jr, who finished second during Mosac Sprint at Festino last month, is also pumped up for the event. “I want to grab another podium finish,” he said. “The car is in good shape and ready for the challenge.”
While drivers are confident of success, the heavy rains in the past days have made the roads bad. Earlier in the week, the clerk of the course David Bitalo said that he has designed a route to test man and machine.
