Shafiq Ssemujju has fanned the flames ahead of his clash with Ponsiano Lwakataka in the Battle of Champions Sprint at Festino City tomorrow (Boxing Day).

The youthful driver, speaking to the Daily Monitor yesterday said Lwakataka’s best days are behind him.
“He is past his best and there is no way a driver whose career is declining can beat me especially in a sprint,” Ssemujju said.

Ssemuju also added that he intends to go through the lane considered by many as the more difficult of the two-lane circuit.

In 2011, at the same venue, the two drivers clashed over lane issue and many people believe it is one of the reasons behind their rivalry.

Lwakataka now intends to put that issue to bed by winning in both lanes. He also seemed unruffled when told about Ssemmujju’s remarks. “He does not know the advantages that come with age,” Lwakataka said.
