Ssentamu in best shape of his life, says Van Pee

Kampala.

Maxime Van Pee, Team Uganda MX skipper has been impressed by the form of Fortune Ssentamu ahead of the Mountain Dew MX Championship 5th round at Busiika this Sunday.

The event will be used to select the team for the 2017 FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Continental Championship in Botswana on August 25-27.

Van Pee said he has trained with Ssentamu ahead of Sunday’s race and the latter is showing good pace.

“I am surprised he has mastered the new bike very quickly. For someone in MX85 beating MX1 riders with ease, that’s great,” Maxime noted. “He surprised me with some of the maneuvers he is doing.”

Ssentamu acquired a new bike, KTM model 2017, in May this year and showed what he is capable of during the 4th round in Garuga. Despite Maxime’s praises, Ssentamu still has to perform on the track on Sunday to maintain his ambitions of winning a hat-trick of MX85 titles. His hopes are threatened by Ben Nsumba whom he pipped for the 2015 title final.

With two races to go including Sunday’s, Nsumba leads the race with 178 pts, while Ssentamu, who after two rounds early this year had 11 pts, is in 5th position with 122. However, there is a possibility of a seventh race later in the year.

Mountain Dew , Shell Advance, Lato Milk, Cherish Hospital, Visual Extreme, Fotogenix and Safe Solutions are the sponsors for the event.
