KAMPALA- The Uganda MX team is looking for Sh92m for the 2017 FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Continental Championship. The Championship will take part in Botswana, August 25-27.
This was revealed by Dusman Okee, FMU president, during the presentation of sponsors for the fifth round of the Mountain Dew MX Championship to be held at Uganda Sports Arena Busiika on Sunday.
“We have started the campaign of looking for resources to take the team to Botswana.

Sh92m is needed to transport the bikes, accommodation, participation fee and riders welfare,” Okee told the press at Lugogo yesterday.
“When I come knocking at your door, please come to our aid. The team will definitely go with or without sponsors.”

Runners-up
Uganda last year finished second, 21 points behind hosts Kenya in the continental championship. Meanwhile, Maxime van Pee, Team Uganda captain, said they will use this Sunday race as part of preparation for the Botswana championship.
“We are considering taking about 2-3 riders (about 20) in each category to try and better our second place finish last year,” Maxime said.
Maxime also said riding on the Busiika sandy track will put them in better shape for the continental championship.

“Busiika is the best track we have at the moment. Most countries now use sandy track which also improves stamina as well.”
Mountain Dew with Sh15m, Shell Advance with Sh8m, Lato Milk, Cherish Hospital, Visual Extreme, Fotogenix, and Safe Solutions are the sponsors for this event.
