Wanderers face Jinja SSS hurdle

By Darren Allan Kyeyune

KAMPALA- Unlike their men who already think they are going to battle relegation this term, Wanderers’ ladies are in a comfortable seat in regard to their National 40-Over League.
Their campaign got off to a winning start with a 53-run victory over Tornado a fortnight ago at Lugogo Oval.

On the same day, Jinja SS defeated JACC by 31 runs before a narrow one-wicket defeat to Charity Trust Fund last weekend. Wanderers’ skipper Kevin Apio is now eager to stretch their winning streak when they face Jinja at Lugogo this morning.

“We are still unbeaten in the longer format since last year and we are not giving away our streak on Saturday (today),” Apio, who will mainly trust national captain Naomi Kayondo with both bat and ball, told Saturday Monitor early this week.

But Jinja SS coach Habibu Mugalula knows his girls are playing for greater heights. “The togetherness of my players and a common dream to take part in the 2015 ICC Women’s World Cup is what motivates them each and every day,” Mugalula said.

He will bank on Damalie Busingye, Kevin Awino and Prico Nakitende.
