Mpigi-based AVRS will kick off their title defence this Saturday when they host bitter rivals, Shaona, at the Japanese friendship baseball stadium in Gayaza.
The reigning champions are expecting a tough match from last season’s runner-up.
“Looking at the teams we played last season, Shaona were our biggest challengers and we know the dangers they can cause,” said AVRS coach Joseph Drotti.
Drotti has all the reasons to smile because his best players Job Echon, Dennis Achidri and Isaac Odong have all recovered from their injuries and are available for selection.
All eyes will be on outfielder Alex Matege and shot stopper Jerry Megoronyo who were brought in as replacements for Alio Daniel and Lawrence Zingi who moved to USA for studies.
