Bogere learnt of SC Villa sacking from the media

Soccer. New coach Sam Ssimbwa says Villa is not his father’s club so he must be paid to produce good results for the league giants.

KAMPALA.
Sam Ssimbwa was at Kavumba to watch SC Villa lose their first of three games played in the Uganda Premier League (UPL); with Steven Bogere on the Jogoos’ touchline.

But it will instead be Ssimbwa in the 16-time record league champions’ dugout tomorrow when Villa host URA in Mityana.
Ssimbwa was unveiled as the new Villa coach at the club offices in Lungujja yesterday after replacing Bogere, who was sacked after ironically winning two of the Jogoos’ first three games.
The former KCC, Express, Simba, Sofapaka, Atraco and Police (all Rwanda) coach, Ssimbwa, signed a one-year contract with Villa and will be expected to help the side win their first league title since 2004.

“Of course I’m a winner,” he said, “I have won titles where I have been and am here to win with Villa, to try bring back the glory days.” But he reminded Villa bosses: “Particularly, you have to pay me and I produce. Of course when coaches don’t produce, they lose jobs. This is not my father’s club.”
