Some Bweranyangi Girls’ Secondary School students and their teachers have been awarded scholarships to study sports administration courtesy of Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).

The Bushenyi school was picked after putting up an impressive show during the Fitness Week physical activity day in Mbarara at the weekend. Bweranyangi produced the top eight performers in the 5km run with Irene Komuhangi winning the women’s category. Brenda Agasiru came second closely trailed by Elizabeth Okwayenda. “We are so impressed by your enthusiasm.

The numbers you have brought here and the commitment the school administration has shown to this project is so tremendous,” Hamzah Kahwa, the UOC Sports for All Commission chairman, told the Bweranyangi fraternity while closing the Fitness Week activities at Mbarara High School sports ground on Saturday.

“As a reward, we shall organize sports administration diploma courses at your school to benefit some of you. It’s clear you can be the driving force for many more sports projects in the country.”

The sports administration courses are supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
