Byekwaso eyeing national team slot for Germany

Ivan Byekwaso

Kampala- Former Mr Uganda and Mr Kampala Ivan Byekwaso is in high spirits ahead of his biggest challenge since he switched allegiance from Uganda to Germany.
He will be among body builders from all over the world that will be battling for honours at the International Deutche Meistererchaft organized by the Germany Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation on Saturday at the Edwin-Schaarf Hall in Nue Ulm. The competition also acts as qualifiers to the German National Natural Body building team, which Byekwaso wants to be part of.
“My dream is to win all Germany top body building awards and I serve a living God so I know I will do it. But I don’t want to stop at that, I want to be on the national team. I am very ready, it has been three months of training, no pizza,no burgers, man I miss it,” he chuckled on phone from Munich.

This is going to be his second competition since he arrived in Germany last year, he finished fourth in the International Bayerische Meisterchaft that was held on 13th November last year. He has been training at A1 Fitness Studios in Munich where he also works as an instructor but is sponsored by the owner of the gym Alex Wise.
“Preparations have been good, it is not like in Uganda where I had to run up and down looking for food, sponsors and school fees for my two kids. It was a lot of stress but here things are totally different because I can focus on only training and that’s what I have been doing for three months’ Byekwaso said before hastening to add, “Man I was useless in Uganda, but here people value sportsmen.”
Byekwaso (pic below) says he does not regret his decision to change citizenship because now he is focused on chasing his dreams, “I saw some people attacking me that I didn’t have love for my country but I served Uganda the best way I could but people only appreciate your victory, they are never willing to support you,” the muscleman said.
