KAMPALA.
Ivan Byekwaso won Uganda its first medal at the World Natural Body Building and Fitness Championships in Nitra, Slovakia on Saturday evening.

Byekwaso, who settled for silver, missed out on gold by just a point as South Australia’s Ben Wortley took the desired diadem. The Nile Special-Uspa body builder of the year nearly missed out on the event due to financial constraints before President Museveni rescued his trip with a Shs8m offer.

“I have proved my doubters wrong and this victory is for my Ugandan fans and sponsors who made this trip for me possible. God is great.”

The five-time winner of the Mr. Uganda crown will now shift his focus to preparing for the Natural Body Building Olympics to be held in USA in November thanks to an invitation from the INBA World President Denny Kakos. “I am positive I can win a medal at the Olympia in the USA,” he added.
