Dr Kate Kabenge prefers a quiet and stress-free life away from the spotlight. Unfortunately history continues to repeat itself when it comes to the former Commonwealth Games table tennis representative for Uganda.
The last two editions of the Lady Captain’s Prize were literally about Kabenge as she rose from obscurity to win the overall nett prize at the 2012 event and then proceeded to pick the best player’s award at the 2013 edition.
And Kabenge will today attempt to complete a rare hat-trick on a day held to bid farewell to NTV General Manager Aggie Asiimwe Konde and usher in the former as the new Uganda Golf Club (UGC) Ladies’ Section Captain.
But can Kabenge steal her own show at the NTV/Aqua Sipi co-sponsored season opener? Well, well, only time will tell!
During last year’s tournament, Kabenge, who played off handicap 11, fired 66 nett to leave the large field of 205 golfers in her wake by four strokes.
But with dentist involved in organising the dasection,y’s other events, it might prove a hard ask for her to repeat last year’s heroics.
The week-long event started on Monday with Farouk Issa and Hadijah Nampijja winning the special caddies categories.
