Decent start for She Cranes

KAMPALA. The She Cranes, Uganda’s national netball team started their quest for African Netball Championships trophy as well as qualifying for Netball World Cup with a spectacular win against Namibia in their opening fixture.
A 72-47 victory yesterday midday at Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) Arena, Zambia further instilled confidence in the team.

Many substitutions
In the game which had more substitutions, on the She Cranes side, a rare thing in the previous competitions, saw shooter Peace Proscovia yield 40 goals, and goal defender Rachael Nanyonga 10 before being replaced by Mary Nuba and Stella Oyella respectively who garnered seven and 15 goals to seal the win.
In goal defense Lilian Ajio, was replaced by Muhaimuna Namuwaya in the third quarter, Florence Nanyonga in wing defence with Joan Nampungu and Muahaimuna Namuwaya came in for Stella Nanfuka in the goal keeping department.
Team captain Proscovia opines that their first stride has inculcated confidence in the team.

Not underestimating
“The She Cranes came in determined and very confident but I cannot underestimate, Namibia because they were also strong, however in every game there is a winner and a loser also from now on we are going to take on every game confidently so as to reach where we are supposed to be,” said Proscovia.
