Kampala.

In 10 days, Nemostars hope to travel to Cairo – Egypt for the March 27 to April 5 men’s Africa Volleyball Club Championships.
However, the Aziz Damani National Volleyball League champions must find $25,000 (Shs87.5m) fast enough to keep their dream of making a fifth continental appearance alive.
“We have tried to get to the First Lady but we were told she is first finishing up with the Jinja –East by-elections,” Nemostars coach Andrew Okapis, said.
The best performance from the four-time champions was recorded at last year’s edition in Tunisia. The task ahead is to better that performance and Okapis’s charges believe the success at home can spur them on.

Impressive form
Nemostars won the Chairman’s Cup in Bungoma last month before replicating the performance at the March 2-3 Ndejje Open, whose final was played on March 8, at Mubs, Nakawa. The side also beat fellow continental participants Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) 3-1 at a Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) –organized fundraising game a fortnight ago. “As far as Cairo is concerned, we are in shape. If you are looking for the fittest volleyballers in Uganda, you find them at Nemo,” captain George Aporu told the press at City Royal Hotel, Bugolobi.
“The best place for us based here (Uganda) to play volleyball is at the continental championshipsn where we have been four times. We want to give it another shot and see how best we come out,” Aporu continued.
Nemostars have scheduled their own fundraising tonight at Lugogo against league runners-up Sport-S as they try to close in on the budget.
The club say they have only $4,000 (over Shs14m) which is just under 15%of the budget.
