Elwani dreams big for Africa

Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) president Dr Amr Elwani has pledged to help African countries dominate the world stage in the near future.
Elwani was speaking at the CAVB Men’s Club Championship that ended last week, were 17 clubs from 13 countries out of the 53 affiliated members turned up.
Libya registered the highest number of clubs (3) at the competition, Tunisia (2) Sudan (2) while Uganda, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Burundi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Algeria, Congo Brazzaville had one team apiece.
Dormant members
“We have a lot of dormant members who have been knocking on our doors for help,” said Elwani.
“Now many of them have started taking the game seriously and we will assist them.
“It’s my dream to see that Africa becomes a volleyball giant in the world.” He added; “All countries must concentrate on teaching the game right from the junior level because the skills are easier to master at a tender age.
