After six years in the wilderness, the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) has confirmed participation at the 16th edition of the African nation’s Women Championship in Nairobi, Kenya.

A provisional 18-man squad will be named this Friday in a move to start preparation for the September games this month.

UVF technical director Tonny Lakony, who also doubles as Nkumba University coach, is in charge of the side.

“It will be a tough job for me and the girls (to select the side) ,” Lakony said. “Skill comes first, then physique, experience and availability,” he added.

Kenya has dominated this championship winning it a record 7 times in the last 10 editions.
