At the start of the National Twenty20 League, a revamped Kampala Institute of Cricket Clubs (KICC) set reaching the quarterfinals as their prime target.
A month later, skipper Hanumant Katkar can be sure of a slot in the last eight if they beat either Rounders or Tornado in their remaining Group B fixtures at Kyambogo and Lugogo Oval today.
“We want to win both games and be sure of progress,” all-rounder Katkar said. With much help from their strong batting unit, KICC lie second in the pool with 12 points from five games.
In fact, they will be the first side to tally 1,000 runs if they make 160 runs today. “There is little to worry about with the bat but we need to tighten our bowling more so against unbeaten Tornado.”
2012 champions Tornado, who lead the pool with 16 points, are already through but will first play Premier in the morning before facing former player Assadu Seyiga.
