The National Hockey League that was meant to start on February 24 has still not kicked off after clubs asked for more time to settle their debts with Uganda Hockey Association (UHA).
Competitions secretary Saddam Hussein confirmed the development. “The clubs want to get the heavy financial burden off their chests before they can play,” said Hussein. “We wanted to start early this year so that we allow schools time to organise their eventsduring first or second term.”
But UHA spokesperson Jackie Namyalo says the league will start in April as it has in the previous years.
