In a bid to end confusion that always arises when there is a big occasion, especially an international football match, at Mandela National Stadium, the education and sports ministry has released guidelines to help facility deal best with their clients.

Speaking at Uganda Media Centre on Monday, the docket minister, Jessica Alupo, said the move was to help “harmonise the stadium usage charges for convenience of all stakeholders and all concerned parties are required to take note and comply.”

Verification
On international football “matches/events, for instance, tickets - as has been - will be printed by the client, in this case Fufa or other associations,” read in part the guidelines. “The tickets shall be verified and stamped by both parties (clients and Namboole), who will together take note of the ticket serial numbers. “After the event, all tickets (sold and unsold) will be reconciled by both parties against money collected and revenues apportioned as per guidelines.”

Non-sports activities
Clients wishing to broadcast, advertise or vend within the stadium premises (outside the arena) will only do so after an agreeing a contract with Namboole management while rentals for non-sports activities shall be charged on rates as approved by the stadium.

However, advertising within the arena (pitch, track, dressing room, tunnel and media centre) will be a preserve of the client. Stadium managing director Jamil Ssewanyana was in attendance and welcomed the new measures.
