Namilyango old boys celebrate 112 years at Mubs

The Namilyango College Old Boys’ Association (Nacoba), an association that brings together all alumni of the oldest secondary school in Uganda, is set to hold its annual fifth sports gala at Mubs grounds today.

This year the old boys celebrate the school’s 112th year of existence and excellence in both academics and sport. Nacoba chief mobiliser Andrew Bazanye said the gala will be merry making and competitive because the school has so many renown sportsmen across all disciplines.

“We have sportsmen that have excelled and even represented the nation,” said Bazanye. “All of them will be at Mubs to celebrate the existence of the school that nurtured them.” For the first time, a select team from Namilyango’s arch rivals St Mary’s College Kisubi will take part in the gala as a sign of brotherhood.

Funds from last year’s event helped to extend the sick bay and this year’s funds will be used to renovate different houses of residence at the college.
Teams will compete in games not limited to football, volleyball, basketball, tag rugby, tug of war, sprints plus board games like chess and scrabble.

Boxing: Maj Gen Francis Nyangweso, John Ssentongo, Francis Kisekka, Robert Seguya.
