Netball: SA to lock horns with Uganda

Kampala. Uganda and South Africa will face off today in two closing fixtures of the Fisu World University Netball Championships that started at Makerere University arena early this week.
One game will be to complete the seven nations–round robin format of the competition and the other, a grand final between the first two nations in the tournament which are South Africa and Uganda from which the winner will be crowned this year’s champion.
Uganda at this point has played six fixtures and garnered 12 points with 522 goals.
Defending champions and rivals South Africa also have six points with 520 goals, two less than Uganda.
However, all that will be put aside in the final scheduled for today at 6pm.
South Africa have exhibited a performance awash with professionalism, fitness and dedication. They are fast and their co-ordination a joy to behold. They also have the best goal shooter in Alicia Pulen.
Uganda in contrast plays at a slow pace but possess wonderful distribution of the ball. Uganda’s goals have been shared by shooters Irene Eyaru, Mary Nuba, Victor Nantumbwe and Sharifa Nalunkuma. They will have to be at their best to stun South Africa.
