Netball star Proscovia bids farewell to Loughborough, heads to Australia

KAMPALA- She Cranes captain, Peace Proscovia has bid farewell to English Super League side, Loughborough Lightning and signed up for Australian club, Sunshine Coast Lightning that plays in the Suncorp Super Netball League.

In her farewell speech, Proscovia one of the best Goal Shooters in world netball, confessed that she loved Loughborough Lightning so much and still would like to play for them but she was overwhelmed by the desire to challenge her ability by facing the world elsewhere.

She therefore could not thank Loughborough Lightning well enough for bringing her to the limelight. Loughborough Lightning was scouting for a shooter during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in Botswana, that’s when the chance fell wished her luck.

“She has been a true pleasure during her four years in Loughbourough Lightning and we wish her all the luck in the world,” read the tweet.

Proscovia has played in the Vitality Netball Super League for the past four seasons since 2015 when she joined Loughborough Lightning. She emerged top scorer in 2016 and also won the Most Valuable Player accolade as well as the Players’ player of the year accolade in the 2017 league.
Proscovia attracted attention on the world stage following her stand-out performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

She recently led the She Cranes at the African Netball Championships in Zambia where Uganda emerged unbeaten there by qualifying for Netball World Cup due next year in Liverpool, England.
