Ouma arrested again

Ugandan professional boxer Kassim Ouma is in police custody again after he was arrested for punching a man in USA. Ouma told detectives the man made gay sexual advances towards him after a drink-up at his house.
KAMPALA- Former IBF junior middleweight champion Kassim ‘The Dream’ Ouma is in prison for knocking out a man who was allegedly making gay advances towards him.
According to US entertainment site TMZ, Ouma told investigators that he struck up a conversation with a guy he met while hanging out in Hollywood early last Friday morning.
Ouma says the two went back to the other man’s home for a drink where the guy allegedly made a pass at the boxer. According to the site, Ouma claims he politely declined multiple advances from the man but was forced shove him away when he stopped him from leaving the place.
The altercation then escalated with Ouma allegedly knocking the man out with the situation only saved by police who arrived in time to treat and transport the victim to a nearby hospital. Ouma was meanwhile arrested although the latest indication shows the boxer may be charged with possession of cocaine and a felony stemming from the altercation.
It is not the first time, the Ugandan boxer is finding himself at parallels with the law.
The former UPDF child solidier has previously been arrested for domestic battery and a number of driving violations including driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to appear in court. Born in Gulu District, Ouma defected to the United States in 1998 during a national team assignment, where he was later granted political asylum. The 35-year-old boxer had a promising start to his professional career and defeated Verno Phillips to win the IBF junior middleweight title.
Ouma successfully defended his championship with a twelve round unanimous decision against Kofi Jantuah of Ghana in 2005.
He, however, later lost the title in a unanimous decision defeat against Roman Karmazin, a bout in which Ouma was put to the canvas twice.
Little action
Ouma returned to action in December 2013 after a two-year sabbatical, defeating Azerbaijan’s Rahman Yusubov by unanimous decision in a six- round fight. Since then, little had been said about him in boxing circles until the Friday incident that is certain to ruin his reputation further.
