Kampala- From the She Cranes (Netball World Cup), Silverbacks (AfroBasket) to Uganda Cranes (Afcon 2017 Qualifier in Comoros), the search for funds has become that chorus sung by several national teams. And now, it’s the two national pool teams.

The She and Pool Cranes are in need of $50000 (Shs184m) to represent Uganda at the All Africa Blackball Championships (AABC) scheduled for October 26-31 in Maseru, Lesotho.

Calling out to the President
“Much as the players are ready, we are short of funds,” Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) Farouk Wamala Kisuze told Daily Monitor at a media briefing yesterday.

“We urge the government, the President, corporate entities and friends of pool to come and support the noble cause,” said Kisuze, also the All Africa Pool Association vice chairman.

If there is anything to motivate the willing hearts, it’s not only got to be PAU’s great levels of organisation but also the performance at AABC last year.

At their maiden continental appearance, She Pool Cranes took silver behind winners South Africa while the male side finished 4th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania last year.
