The two factions in the Uganda Rowing Federation (URF) are ready to work with National Council of Sports (NCS) and find lasting solutions to the wrangles affecting the sport.
NCS on Monday disbanded the URF executive after a meeting with stakeholders and promised to hold elections for new leaders within one month. “We have learnt from past mistakes especially the way we handled boxing issues. The earlier we act the better for the rowing federation,” NCS general secretary Jasper Aligawesa said.
And URF general secretary Hamza Kahwa, who commands authority in one of the factions couldn’t agree more with NCS. “Fresh elections will help us get rid of the bickering,” Kahwa, who was suspended by the other faction, said.
Charles Batambuze, the vice-president (technical), known to disagree with Kahwa, chipped in: “There is no reason for fighting. We should work together.”
