Search for U21 players starts ahead of Zonal Championship

Coach Nason Bwesingye has embarked on a search for players who will make the U21 team to represent Uganda at the Zone Five Youth Championships slated for later this year in Kampala.
Bwesingye and his assistant Apollo Kalanzi have already spotted players to act as the back bone for the youthful side.
Some of these include UCU Lady Doves’ Esther Tumwembaze , Tracy Kulume and Joan Babirye. Others are Ndejje Elites’ Irene Amoding, KAVC’s Provia Ainembabazi, Sport-S’ Kauthra Kagoya, Trust High School’s Betty Nalule and Kinaawa’s setter Doreen Akiteng
“We are looking at school going players with potential to build the youth side,” said Bwesingye
The on going All Girls School’s championship at St Joseph’s Nsambya will expose Bwesingye and Kalanzi to different kinds of players.
The duo was also present at last weekend’s Joan Cox Memorial tournament were most of these girls took part.
The Zone Five Youth Championship was established by Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Sudan, and Ethiopia as a way of developing the game from the grassroots.
It was will be second attempt an underage tournament to be staged in this region after the U23 competition failed to kickoff in Nairobi Kenya earlier this month.
Only Uganda and the hosts confirmed participation.
Uganda will also host the double gender for the Zone Five Club Championship this September .
