She Cranes face giants New Zealand, England in Commonwealth draw

She Cranes, Uganda’s elite national netball team, has been drawn with giants New Zealand and England in Pool B of the 2018 Commonwealth Netball Championship. African giants Malawi, Wales and Scotland are Uganda’s other opponents in the tournament which will begin in April 5.

The draw on Wednesday put hosts Australia in Pool A against Jamaica, South Africa, Barbados, Fiji and Northern Ireland.

The preliminary round matches will be at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 5-12, before culminating into the final matches at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre on April 14-15, 2018.

Uganda qualified for this prestigious event after winning the African Netball Championships unbeaten in June 2017. Uganda hosted the event. This put the She Cranes in ninth place in the World Netball rankings, while New Zealand, England and Malawi are second, third and sixth respectively.
