Ssentamu looking to topple Blick

Kampala. Motocross in Uganda is a sport mostly punctuated with the name Blick, whether in the junior or senior categories. Hardly anyone gets any attention.

But Fortune Ssentamu, a Primary Two student studying at Mother Majeri Primary School, emerged from the Blick shadow with several decent shifts in the 50cc category.

Ssentamu’s efforts were recognised on Monday when he was crowned Nile Special-Uspa Motocross Rider of the Year. The six-year-old, who believes he can match the Blick family feats, will receive his award on January 19 as Uspa hold their Annual Awards Gala at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. “I have time on my side to be like the Blicks,” he said. “I also want to graduate from the 50cc to the 65cc category.”
