Three Schools Qualify for NSSF KAVC International Primary Schools Finals

KAMPALA- Hosts Samaritan Primary School made home advantage count on Sunday as they topped the qualification phase in the Under 14 boys’ category to make the finals of this year’s NSSF Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) Primary Schools Championship.

The one-day tournament which acts as a precursor to the August 3-5 NSSF KAVC International, which attracts volleyball clubs from all over the region, has continued to grow in stature with four schools taking part in the the U12 and U14 categories for both boys and girls.

Samaritan won all four U14 boys pool games to emerge top with 12 points while their main rivals across all categories St James Primary School – Entebbe finished with nine.
The two sides will renew their rivalry on August 5 when they will face off in the finals – just before the climax of the main women’s games.

St. James, however, had some consolation as their U12 boys also made it to the finals after topping Pool B at the expense of Samaritan B and Sunrise Primary School – Matugga. Samaritan A topped Pool A.

In the girls’ category, Sunrise will have its two teams A and B facing off in the U12 finals while the U14 girls will face Samaritan.

“As KAVC, we are proud that primary schools are committed towards supporting the game of volleyball,” KAVC competitions director Levian Ashaba, said. “We organised this tournament because NSSF and KAVC believe in talent development and nurturing and our goal is to the spread the word in the community.”

It should be noted that the club on Saturday had a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity at Naguru Remand Home where they donated household items and foodstuffs.
