UOC prepares for better sports management

KAMPALA- Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick insists on having literate administrators if sports management is going to improve.

This was the same message he re-echoed during the graduation ceremony at Lugogo to honour administrators who completed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accredited nine-month intensive course.

Unlike in the past, new grounds were broken as the Uganda Prisons Service, which is among the strong pillars of Uganda’s sports, presented 39 officers for the training.

The course sponsored through the Olympic Solidarity, equips sports administrators with knowledge on event management, information management, managing human resources, managing sponsorships, financial management and strategic planning.

The next training is expected to equip Luzira inmates with knowledge.
“We started with the prisons officials and now we want them to pass on the knowledge to the inmates,” Blick said. “They (inmates) have the right to learn and I know they will be excited to participate in these courses,” he added.

UOC has so far conducted diploma and certificate courses this year that have attracted over 100 participants.
