Elsewhere the women basketball team continued with
their losing ways when they were beaten 92-59 by Lithuania.

It was double celebration for Ndejje University middle distance runner Docus Ajok at the World University Games, first when she sprinted home in third position in 2:03.22, 0.11 seconds behind Ukraine’s Olga Liakhova guaranteeing herself a spot on the medal roll, only for the results to be disputed and a couple of minutes later to bag silver after Cuba’s Rose Blanco Almanza was disqualified.
Ajok, who defends her 1500m gold won at the last event two years ago in South Korea starting with heats Saturday morning, was blocked severally and this is what caused the contention.
Still at the Taipei stadium, Pius Adome came third in his heat to qualify for the 200m semifinals while Benson OKot was not as lucky.

Scovia Ayikoru and Leni Shida dropped out of contention for 200m (women) supremacy.

In Tennis, Judith Nalukwago lost to Italy’s Camilla Abbate in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). The Makerere University player decried lack of training facilities at the University noting that there were only three functional tennis courts at the institution, one of which was in a sorry state.
Elsewhere the women basketball team continued with their losing ways when they were beaten 92-59 by Lithuania. The team, which was recovering from the shock of center Annet Among’s hospitalization the previous night (she was later discharged after doctors found nothing and she played the game) was dealt another blow when one of their star players Rita Imanishimwe was stretchered off the court to hospital following a head-to-head collision. She too was later discharged after x-ray examination ruled out something serious.
Saturday’s highlight was due to be 10,000m gold medalist Sadic Bahati and John Kateregga running for qualification in tomorrow’s final of the 5000m race.
