Volts retain league title

It was all jubilation as Volts beat Spice 6-2 to retain the women’s Pilsner League of Kings title at Namirembe on Saturday evening.

The Joan Nakayiza-led team finished the season with 99 points, beating second-placed side Lumas by 11. “It was not easy but with our good players, we did our best,” elated skipper Nakayiza said.

Volts received a Shs.1m cash prize from the sponsors while Lumas, who defeated Lilians 7-1 took home Shs.0.5m.
Hot Pool, who were second last year, settled for third this time round with 60 points despite their 5-3 win over Perfection.

Spice came ninth out of the 20 participating teams. Saturday marked the climax of the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) calendar events. The men’s league ended a week ago with Skin Samona taking top honours. They amassed 74 points from their 30 outings. Takers finished second with 63 points.
