Cranes’ Sevens coach Tolbert Onyango is backing his side to carry on from where they left in Dubai when they audition in Cape Town for the second leg of the HSBC World Series today.
Uganda finished 14th out of 16 sides in Dubai, ahead of perennial campaigners Russia and Japan, catching the eye of many a pundits. The team seized the invite granted thanks to their victory in the Rugby Africa Sevens in Nairobi in September.
“We are looking to maintain our form,” Onyango told SCORE. “There’s plenty to work on which cannot be completed in the short term,” he admitted.

Uganda are in Pool D with Samoa, Wales and Scotland for today`s leg and Onyango thinks his boys are still adjusting to the demanding levels of elite rugby.
“This is a new territory for us and we are still picking lessons from the series,” Onyango added. He, however, remains confident the team is growing in stature.
“As a whole we seem to be on the right path and once we fix the few issues we have, we should compete favourably.”
