KAMPALA. The 2017 National Rugby Sevens showpiece is a fortnight away but defending champions Betway Kobs are already plotting to add a third consecutive title.
The country’s oldest rugby institution ended a nine-year wait to win the Sevens title in 2015 before defending it last year. The men-in-blue now want to make it three out of three. They started preparations with a trip to Namilyango College, where they ground out a 17-32 win over the National Schools League champions in a 15-aside game.

“Sevens demand a lot of fitness and that’s why we have started getting into shape early enough,” said Kobs 7s captain Joseph Aredo. “We also want to give some of our younger players chance to play so as to gain experience and build character,” he added.
Unlike previous tourneys, there will be six circuits in as many weeks this year, with Kyadondo, Jinja Dam Waters, Gulu, Makerere and Legends on two occasions with Kobs and Pirates hosting a leg apiece.

Namilyango and Kobs have always had a relationship with the latter being fed by the school when it comes to players like Justin Kimono, Jude Juuko, Timothy Mudoola, Brian Odongo, Edmond Tumusiime and Brian Asaba and many others.
