Buffaloes 15 – 12 Western Bulls
Toyota Buffaloes boosted their confidence ahead of the Nile Special Super Eight Rugby League with a hard earned 15-12 victory over visiting Kenyan side Western Bulls at Kyadondo Rugby Football Club (KYRFC) on Wednesday.
The national league will get underway early next month. Inspired by veteran Robert Seguya, Buffaloes controlled the game from the start thanks to wing Phillip Pariyo’s penalty under 10 minutes.
The Ugandan side widened the score margin when centre James Kasiita touched down for the maiden try of the match. Pariyo, who is also a Rugby Cranes 7s international, successfully converted to make it 10-0.
Mid-way the second half, the Kakamega-based side made a try after numerous phases to cut Buffaloes’ lead to five points.
Western Bulls continued with their rally to take a 12-10 lead after they converted a try that not only stunned the home crowd. But former boxer Seguya unforced his way past two Western Bulls players to dive across the line in the dying minutes to save Buffaloes blushes.
