KAMPALA. Rugby Cranes coach Robert Seguya wants his side to grow in character and attitude if they are to become a better side, able to overcome testing times both on and off pitch.
A Uganda select side defeated Legends Barbarians 34-21 on Saturday at Legends Rugby Grounds in a game that highlighted how Seguya’s side still had a lot to clean up before the international season gets underway.
Apart from lacking character, It became no secret that Seguya had not been impressed by his side’s below par display although he remains positive there is still time to fix the wrongs.
“Everyone on the team wants to play and they are putting in time but the character is not yet there,” he told Daily Monitor after the trial game.
“We are on time, we are playing these games to point out loopholes that we must fix as soon as possible especially game awareness and decision making,” he added.
There are about three weeks to the Elgon Cup home leg against Kenya, Uganda’s first competitive game of the calendar, but Seguya admits he is yet to figure out a few things.
“We did not play to our strengths today but we are going to polish and sharpen. After next week we should be having the best combinations and right players in the right positions,” said Seguya.
