KAMPALA. A team of 60 athletes will represent at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia next month. No para athletes were selected.
Commonwealth Games Uganda announced the team on Friday for 11 disciplines. The Games will be held from 4-15 April.

Apart from weightlifting, netball and the Rugby 7s teams that had direct qualification, the rest had to be sieved.

Among the rookies to Gold Coast are singer Young Mulo’s young brother Latibu Muwonge and Mbogo High’s table tennis player Halima Nambozo.

Big money, huge expectations
Government has come in handy with a Shs3.1bn budget. In the previous Games, government dished out Shs400m which saw athletes get a mere per diem of Shs190,000 (USD72) for 14 days. The first batch of the team leaves on April 24.
