Flawless Mongers entertain Heathens at ‘House of Pain’

Visiting Entebbe Mongers is a nightmare for some sides. Beating them at their ‘House of Pain’ homeground has been an uphill task for most teams in the previous seasons. This campaign, Mongers are flawless at home.

They have beaten champions Kobs and Buffaloes so far and don’t look like surrendering home victory in the Nile Special Rugby Premiership.

While they lost 10-5 in Entebbe last season, Heathens’ current form suggests they are the best side capable of stifling Mongers at home.

Leading the standings with 15 points after three games, Heathens visit Mongers today in what appears a tough mission but their coach Brian Tabaruka is targeting victory.

“We don’t have to think about what transpired in last season’s fixture,” Tabaruka said. “Every game is always going to be different from the previous one. We are coming into this game with a new mentality,” he added.

Tabaruka expects a tough game because of the intensity needed to overcome Mongers at their relatively smaller pitch compared to those in Kampala. Mongers fell to Rhinos 14-13 last weekend at Legends, which somewhat proved they are not comfortable playing on a larger surface.

Elsewhere, Pirates will want to back up last week`s resolute display against Kobs with a maiden season win against an equally struggling Buffaloes.

Kobs, who have looked rusty in their last two games, have a chance to boost their fading confidence against Mutoni Warriors, who picked their first win of the season against Buffaloes last weekend. Rhinos have the least of worries when they visit Impis, the only side yet to register a point in the league this
season.
