Plascon Mongers deservedly rule Makerere 7s

KAMPALA. Entebbe Plascon Mongers turned on the style en route to winning the Makerere leg of the Guinness National Sevens Series at the grave yard at the weekened.
The trio of Timothy Luyirika, Hannington Mukalazi and Bernard Twijukye was beautiful to watch as Mongers found the tiniest of spaces through every defence they faced to run away with their first leg win and 22 points.
After registering 14-0,12-0 and 15-7 victories against Pirates, Kyambogo and favourites Buffaloes respectively in the pool stage, Mongers went on to edge hosts Impis 14-12 in the quarters for a place in the semifinals. A 22-5 win over Rimula Rhinos would then the book them a place in the final where they beat Betway Kobs 21-15.
for Mongers' coach Kigongo Ssebalamu, this feat did not catch him by surprise because he has been monitoring the progress of most lads in the winning side from their junior side Jyengo.
"Most are products of our junior side. I know what they can do and today all the hard work and belief paid off," he told Daily Monitor.
Holders Kobs have shifted their focus onto the Kitaka Memorial Sevens, the last leg, next Saturday at Legends with hope of defending their title.
" We gave everything and we were unlucky not to win today but next Saturday is definitely ours, " warned Davis Kyewalabye.
The circuit heads into the the last day with Buffaloes and Kobs placed in the pole position to add something into their trophy cabinet.
