KAMPALA.

Right after their last session before jetting off to Hong Kong and Australia for the HSBSC World Rugby Sevens Qualifiers and the Commonwealth Games respectively, a good number of the Cranes stars turned coaches.
Desire Ruhweza, Michael Wokorach, Solomon Okia, Joseph Aredo and Aaron Ofoyrwoth were some of those who switched to coaching roles as the Easter u-15 rugby tourney took center stage. Among the sides present was Kamuli Rampaging Tigers, Teargas Rangers, Spire Lions, Naguru Community, Makerere Community and Kyadondo Totos.

Getting involved
Wokorach, the Rugby Sevens Cranes captain, took pleasure in being part of the event and was left impressed by some of the starlets that showed up. He also saw it as a way of helping more children embrace the game at an early age.
“Many of the players in our side (Cranes) are a products of such platforms. These tournaments produce tomorrow’s stars and it gives me a lot of satisfaction that I am part of it,” he told Daily Monitor.
The one day showpiece had Spire Lions and Kyadondo Totos make the final with the latter comiig out on top 12-14 in a nerve wrecking tie. Tina Akello emerged as MVP while Francis Oroni bossed the scoring charts.
