KAMPALA. The national sevens side flew out of the country Tuesday morning aboard Kenya Airways for Germany where they will take part in the inaugural Oktoberfest 7s.
Uganda is drawn in a tough pool B alongside England, Argentina and hosts Germany. The cast includes a host of other world class 7s sides like Fiji, South Africa, Ireland, France and Australia. Pool A will feature Olympic bronze medallists and last year’s World Series champions South Africa, alongside France, Portugal and Spain.

Pool C has Australia, Chile and Ireland, and Olympic champions Fiji, the quality at the tourney tells how Uganda has grown into a highly recognized side in the shorter version of the game.
With all that class on show, Cranes captain Eric Kasiita expects the side to learn more from the experience as the Africa Rugby Sevens Championships draw nearer.
“We are up against the best in the world and hope to learn one or two things in playing against them, with the Africa Cup on card, there is no better way of testing yourselves,” he told Daily Monitor.
