Kampala- While some sports disciplines in the country like football struggle to attract crowds to league games, a relatively smaller one like motocross does so effortlessly.
The crowds that grace motocross events continue to swell by the day.
Reason for that is quite simple; there is always something to excite the crowd.
And tomorrow, there will be more excitement as riders in six categories ranging from the MX 50cc junior to MX 85cc tussle for points in the penultimate race of the Mountain Dew national motocross championship.
In between those races, Nick De Wit will be at hand to entertain fans with his freestyle MotoX stunts.
The 32-year-old South African has been executing a stunt man contract in Bulgaria on the set of the Expendables 3 movie and was expected to arrive last evening ahead of tomorrow’s show at the Uganda Motorsports Arena in Busiika.
This will be the second time De Wit performs at a motocross event in Uganda having thrilled crowds during the second round of this year’s championship in August.
That time, the South African performed his famous back flip, which left the huge crowd in awe.Speedway Motorsports club manager Bryan Tumusiime, the organizers of the event, told Saturday Monitor yesterday that fans should expect an even better performance from De Wit.
“We have brought in a better bike which will help him show a few more tricks to the fans,” Tumusiime said.
In the championship, Yassin Bukala will be out to stretch his 34-point lead over Jesse Kamstra in the MX1 category while Talha Kiggundu, who leads the MX2, is set to miss out on the event as he is currently doing his O’Level examinations.
This should help his nearest challenger Fatuh Kiggundu reduce the 114 gap between the two riders.
Yassin Bukala 324 points
Jesse Kamstra 290
Ashraf Mbabazi 266
Talha Kiggundu 438
Fatuh Kiggundu 324
Ahmed Tamale 307
