Top spot  for grabs as Pirates visit Heathens

Pirates duo Ivan Magomu and Marvin Odongo stop Heathens Ronald Agassi

KAMPALA-The Rugby Premiership goes into a three week`s Christmas break after today`s round of games. Hima Heathens comfortably sit at the summit with 28 points with Black Pirates on their tail on 26 as the two meet today at Kyadondo RFC to find out who celebrates Christmas atop.

Pirates tasted defeat for the first time this season at the hands of Betway Kobs last Saturday and coach Bobby Musinguzi was quick to point out how hard his side finds it to adapt in big games. “We need to start imposing ourselves on games early on” he told this paper. “It’s a mentality I have been trying to blood in. The boys take long to grow into games especially against the big sides,” he added.

Pirate’s work is cut today as Heathens are no small side and have made it a habit to upset Pirates even when the odds are against them but the latter`s fly half Ivan Magomu believes everything must come to an end at a given time.

“We have played well this season let alone being unlucky against Kobs,” Magomu reflects on the stellar season Pirates were enjoying before the loss against Kobs. “History favours them in the fixture but it can never be like that for good, it’s up to us to change that,” he reasoned.

On paper, Heathens are easy favourites for the title having won all their games so far and will fancy themselves against a crafty Pirates side that has played the best rugby in the league.

Elsewhere, Warriors host Kobs on the back of two successive wins against Rams and Impis while Mongers welcome Rams at the house of pain. Rhinos are expected to bounce back from two loses in a row when they host bottom placed Gulu Elephants.

Buffaloes will  desperate to continue their winning streak against lowly Impis after failing to win in their first four games of the campaign.
