" I can say it was a good campaign," reflected assistant captain Michael Wokorach. The latter's obsveration had already been aired aired by many prior to the game.
With Gold Cup status secured for next year courtesy of a third place finish on 16 points, level with Kenya, the Rugby Cranes can say they accomplished this year's mission. They will have a shot at the 2019 Japan World Cup with qualifiers due next year.

Uganda needed a 64 point margin win if they were to overtake Kenya to finish second but it was never the story. The 38_12 win leaves Uganda third, a spot they have held for most of the campaign. It means they will host three games next year contrary to this year's quadruple.
