Uganda survive Zimbabwe scare to defend Africa Sevens Rugby title

KAMPALA. 

Uganda needed a last gasp try from Adrian Kasiito to clinch the African title for a second year running at Legends Rugby Grounds.
With a historical World Cup spot already secured, having got to the final, both Zimbabwe and Uganda now focused on claiming the African title.
The final started on a sad note for the home crowd when Pius Ogena was sent to the sin bin for a high tackle in the five meter yard area, the referee consequently awarded Zimbabwe a penalty try.
After beating Zambia 38-12 in the semifinals,  Uganda were a win away from defending the Africa Sevens Rugby Championships which they won last year in Nairobi after beating Namibia 19-38 in the final.
With a man down, Uganda went through a testing time on the back foot but held on until James Odong raced through the middle to post Uganda's first points in the final.
Odong's heroics rejuvenated spirits all over Legends Rugby grounds although Uganda was still trailing 7-5.

With a minute to go, Uganda got a scrum and a series of exchanges saw Kasiito burst through for a try he will never forget. It was 10-7 Uganda and all the Legends crowd hoped for was to hear the final whistle. 
Uganda and Zimbabwe will all play at the World Cup in San Francisco, USA and  Commonwealth Games in Australia next year.
