KAMPALA- Heathens gave their fans a decent Christmas gift after they edged rivals Kobs 11-10 in a Rugby Premier League game at Kyadondo on Saturday.
Captain Michael Wokorach scored a last minute try, which sent the home crowd into frenzy as Heathens finished the first round top of the standings on 26 points. Wokorach was thrilled by the display.

“It’s a good feeling today because I led from the front as a captain. I scored at the death and we are back on top,” Wokorach said after the game.

“We dominated the whole game. We won more line outs, scrum downs and everything but for some reason we lacked the killer instinct to score tries.”

After recess, two Phillip Wokorach penalties helped Heathens crawl back into the game (6-7) but James Ijongat restored parity for the champions through a penalty (6-10).

With the clock ticking away and Kobs threatening to run away with the victory, skipper Wokorach produced a moment of brilliance to nick it for Heathens. “It was a tense and tight game. We did our best to win but we were unlucky” said Kobs captain Brian Odongo.

Kobs are now third on 24 points, one behind second-placed Mongers. The league resumes on January 3, 2015.
