Striker Eugene Ssepuuya has been summoned to the Cranes side that will face Kenya’s Harambee Stars in Caf Orange 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Coach Bobby Williamson also summoned 20 local based players who will start training on September 27 at Namboole Stadium. Ssepuuya will be making his first appearance since 2008.
Speaking at yesterday’s Fufa news conference, Bobby insisted that his decisions on team selection should not be doubted.

Ssepuuya (scored in Cranes 3-1 win over Angola in 2008 and in the loss away to Benin) was overlooked last month as he was allowed to finalise his transfer with Club Queensfury in Australia.

The tactician also commented about South Africa based defender Timothy Batabaire adding that everyone will get a chance in the qualifiers. “I can’t pick everybody, but am sure that those chosen will effectively represent us,” said Williamson.

The Scottish who was impressed with the performance of the players added that a decent result in Nairobi would put the Cranes a step closer in achieving the ultimate goal. Serbia-based Nestroy Kizito will be the other player to make the Cranes squad after missing out on the Angola match due to injury. The defender was expected to make history last night when his Partizan Belgrade played Sharktar Donetsk in the Uefa Champions League.

Meanwhile, Cranes opponents in the next match Kenya resume training next week ahead of the game they badly need to win to recover from the Guinea Bissau loss.
