The football fraternity yesterday suffered a double blow with news of the death of former Federation of Uganda Football Associations president Denis Obua.
Obua’s demise comes a day after businessman and hitherto SC Villa vice chairperson Andrew Kassaga ‘Zzimwe’ succumbed to cancer at his Munyonyo home on Monday morning.
Obua, the former Cranes international, 68, breathed his last at Nakivubo Stadium - the pitch on which he displayed his skills in his playing days. Obua was attending the ex-internationals training at 11am when he collapsed.
He was rushed to BAI Hospital in Old Kampala where he was pronounced dead. His body was later transferred to Mulago Hospital, where a postmortem confirmed he suffered heart failure. Obua was Fufa president from 1998 to 2004.
