Micho goes for early Cranes preparations ahead of Comoros tie

KAMPALA.

Fifa rules state that players must be available for international call-ups at least five days prior to an Afcon qualifier, two days before a friendly while the preparation period is two weeks for a tournament.

The first two regulations are likely to prove beneficial to coach Micho Sredojevic’s preparations ahead of the Cranes’ crunch September 03 fixture against Comoros. The Serb is seeking to assemble all the players at least for a week prior to the game where a Cranes win will secure a slot to the continent’s showpiece tournament for the first time in 38 years.

According to the work plan seen by the Daily Monitor, Micho intends to announce his squad on August 25th with non-residential training commencing the following day.

The team is then expected to enter residential training on August 27th ahead of the final warmup game against Kenya three days later at Namboole. Cranes sponsors Airtel have similarly been involved in early preparations. The telecommunications company on Monday rewarded Grace Twongyeirwe from Mbarara as their second loyal customer with a brand new Toyota Premio as part of the ongoing ‘MujjeTulumbe’ consumer promotion.

The campaign is aimed at rallying more support for the Cranes. The company’s subscribers also have a chance to win match day tickets, one million shillings daily and a brand new car weekly until the game.
