KAMPALA- After battling to a 2-0 win over debutants Paidha Black Angels at Namboole, URA FC coach Sam Ssimbwa says winning the opening game was vital for his team.

Vitalis Tabu scored both goals in each half before a fair crowd at Namboole Stadium.

Paidha were the best team for most of the first half until they conceded in the last minute of added time, a loose ball from Tabu and had earlier threatened to score with Mohammad Kasirye controlling the midfield.

Control possession
But URA’s resurgence in the second half when they managed to control possession saw them earn a vital victory which Ssimbwa said the game was a good build up ahead of their next encounter against Express FC. “Paidha was good and could have actually scored first but I am happy with the three points. We shall correct our mistakes and move on,” he said.

He was missing key players; Allan Mugalu and Patrick Mbowa, who were injured while impressive youngster Joachim Ojera also limped off before first half.

Paidha stand-in coach Michael Aloya blamed the loss on pre-match chaos due to the delay in securing playing licences.

The head coach Mohammad Kisekka was also sent to the pavilion for lack of minimum coaching requirements, as per the league requirements.
