KAMPALA. At long last, Paidha Black Angel’s new tactician Allan Kabonge won the first game in three attempts but this was not the way he envisaged it.

Paidha survived a huge scare on Thursday to crawl to the top of the Elgon group of the Big League with a 2-1 home win over Kamuli Park. The visitors cruised to a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture and almost caused an upset when they led 1-0 at half-time in Bar Okoro stadium.

Johnson Kamoga gave the visitors a lead in the 39th minute slotting the ball past goal keeper Jonathan Oyirwoth but a penalty from Villa Oromchan in the 50th minute and Blaise Rife’s thunderous header eased the nerves in Zombo and ensured Paidha go top with 28 points, two better than Amuka, who have two games in hand.

Kamuli was fearless in its approach as they tried to control much of the ball in the first half to the disappointment of the fully packed stadium. Paidha offered little by way of response and converting their chances until the second half when they looked a serious threat.
